My research agendas focus on three main areas:
- Political theory: My work in political theory is primarily about political violence, contestation and resistance, and democratic theory. I have a particular interest in riots, and I'm currently working on a dissertation, A Democratic Theory of Riots, which attempts to come to terms with the theoretical and normative foundations of rioting from an interdisciplinary perspective. This line of research also expands to contestation and resistance in international politics: I study movements and groups that engage in violent and nonviolent resistance in the international political sphere and to globalized politics, especially among the new right. Recently, I have also worked on the impacts of artificial intelligence on political contestation.
- Research methods: I maintain a pluralist methodological approach in my work. I am particularly interested in causality, experimental designs, statistics, ethnographic research, and interview methods. My work sits at the intersection of empirical and normative approaches to political science.
- Electoral politics: My research on electoral politics is mostly focused on Québec and Canada. It touches upon public opinion and political behavior, with specific interests in religion, secularism, racial and ethnic prejudice, and voting behavior using quantitative methods.
